Activities & Support for Older Persons in Kaikōura
There’s a lot happening in our community for older people — from exercise classes and brain gym to social catch-ups and specialist support groups. These activities are coordinated by Blou, our Older Persons Community Support Worker, and are open to all.
Whether you’re looking for something active, social, or just a friendly cuppa with others — there’s something here for you.

What’s on and when
Most activities cost just $5 and include a cuppa and cake. Transport may be available for some sessions — ask Blou when booking. Activities marked Booking essential require a call to Blou before attending.

Specialist community support
These groups meet regularly and are open to people living with specific health conditions, and their whānau and supporters. No cost to attend — just turn up.
Carers Support Group
For supporters of people going through illness — whānau and friends welcome.
Blou Brothers — Men’s Cancer Support
For men who have cancer, or who are supporting someone with cancer.
Stroke / TIA Support Group
For people who have had a stroke, TIA, or similar neurological event, and their supporters.
Kaikōura Parkinson’s Support Group
Health coaching and peer support for people living with Parkinson’s.
Kaikōura Cancer Support Group
Dedicated volunteers providing practical and emotional assistance where needed.
