From Tuesday 10th January, Kaikoura Healthcare are introducing a prescription phone line for enrolled patients. This will be accessed by calling 03 319 3501 – the receptionist will transfer you to the prescription line.
You will be asked to provide your name, date of birth, (NHI if known) and the name of the medications you need. Please have your medication packs handy so you can spell any complex names if you need to.
All prescriptions will be processed within 2 working days. If you require an urgent prescription then please state this after your name and date of birth. There is an extra charge for an urgent prescription and it will be processed within 24 hours.
Prescriptions are electronically sent to the Pharmacy, you will receive a text saying the prescription has been sent to the Pharmacy. Please allow an hour for the Pharmacy to process your prescription before going to pick it up.
You can also order your long term medication prescription online using our patient portal MyIndici. Reception staff can help you to enrol for the portal.
Prescription charges remain at present:
$15 for a prescription processed in 2 working days
$30 for an urgent prescription processed in 24 hours
Repeat prescribing is done with patient safety in mind and needs to comply with legal, medical and ethical standards.
We want to see patients at least every second script, which is at least once every 6 months.
However some patients need to be seen every 3 months. The final decision about whether repeat prescriptions can be done without seeing the patient rests with the medical staff.
